Blues Amplifiers are community experts who provide guidance, create engaging resources, and lead by example in the Wireless IoT.
"Behind the Amplifier" is a blog series where we highlight each of our awesome contributors, showcasing what they are working on, and sharing their thoughts on the IoT.
Today, I'm pleased to introduce you to Dishant Shah, an Electronics and Telecommunications Engineer based in India.
The Interview
Getting to Know Dishant
Rob: Hey Dishant - thanks for taking part in this interview - can you please introduce yourself in a few sentences?
Dishant: Hi Rob, absolutely. I am Dishant Shah, an Electronics and Telecommunications Engineer from India. I am the founder of Blue Phoenix Technologies where we develop Medical devices and Innovations for the global market. I specialize in thermal imaging, material science and manufacturing of mechatronic products.
Rob: What initially motivated you to become more involved with Blues and our developer community?
Dishant: Since my college days, I have been trying to develop affordable solutions for implementing IoT technology for remote areas. However, outdated modules based on 2G tech were the only affordable solutions in the market and were becoming obsolete. Hence when I came across the Blues Notecard, which provided affordable LTE solution globally, I was quite impressed and wanted to be a part of the community.
Dishant's Role as a Community Ambassador
Rob: Can you share more about your role as a Blues community member and your contributions to the growth related to wireless/embedded development communities?
Dishant: Of course - I write blogs and projects for the hardware that Blues releases. I also conduct workshops and hardware hackathons in India that are often supported by Blues!
Rob: Always happy to help! How do you see your advocacy making an impact in this field?
Dishant: I feel that if I help increase awareness regarding this product and train students and hobbyists on how to integrate the Notecard into their projects, it can help their projects to be much more impactful while remaining affordable. They can also export these solutions, as the Notecard can work in hundreds of countries across the world without an external SIM.
Dishant's Notable Achievements
Rob: Ok, my favorite question: What are some notable achievements or projects you've been involved in within the IoT space?
Dishant: I have developed a long distance multi-parameter monitor which can measure vital parameters without any contact to the subject or patient. I received 2nd Prize in Hackster's Eyes on Edge: tinyML Vision Challenge for this project. It is currently under testing for medical approval!
WorkSafe: CV based multi-parameter monitoring and diagnostics
Dishant: I also developed a smart inventory system for manufacturing industries which won a prize in the WizFi360 Design Contest:
Automated Inventory management system
Future Goals from Dishant in the Embedded/IoT space
Rob: What are your future goals and aspirations within the broader wireless/IoT/embedded development space?
Dishant: I want to create products which I think can be extremely lucrative crowdfunding projects, with which I aim to improve the conditions in rural and remote areas especially.
Rob: How do you envision the future of IoT technology, and additionally, how do you plan to contribute to it?
Dishant: I feel that the IoT will make the world even smaller and better connected than today. Data driven decision making will be paramount and humans will mainly act as decision makers on this data rather than being just laborers or workers. I mainly aim to develop projects, conduct workshops and competitions or support projects that can bring this vision into reality.
Advice for Aspiring Advocates from Dishant
Rob: What advice do you have for individuals who want to become active proponents of Blues or other IoT technologies?
Dishant: I advise everyone to first use and understand the IoT technologies that Blues or any other company for that matter provides, before propagating it. Understanding and observing problems is the key to making impactful and useful solutions that the market actually requires and before understanding this, propagating any product is inconsequential.
Conclusion
Rob: Thank you so much for being part of this community Dishant! How can readers connect with you and learn from your expertise?
Dishant: Thanks! Feel free to reach on out Hackster or on LinkedIn.
